Do we have to pay for a visa or get a visa to travel to Argentina?
Yes and No. If you arrive into EZE - the international airport located in Buenos Aires, Argentina you do have to pay a "tourist visa" when you arrive. You do NOT need a visa like you do when your travel to Brazil.
All you do is pay the $131 USD fee when you land and they accept cash or credit card. Good news is once you pay - you are good for life. You do NOT have to pay the next time you come down to dove hunt with Los Gauchos.
Now, some of our clients like to try duck hunting in Uruguay or they go dorado fishing in Uruguay and that is their arrival country - Uruguay. Next, they will take the boat over to Buenos Aires, spend a day or two sight-seeing and then depart out of Buenos Aires.
You do NOT pay the visa. You only pay if you ARRIVE in EZE - Buenos Aires.
We have not seen the new regulation being enacted in Cordoba. So, if you arrive into Cordoba via Santiago, to date you do NOT pay the fee. Again, once they get this law fully enacted - it looks like they will make sure any US citizen pays the "visitor's visa" but so far (July 2010) we have not seen the fee collected for arrival into COR or the Cordoba International Airport.
How much are the shotgun shells? Can I bring my own ammo for dove hunting in Cordoba?
Shotgun shell rates vary depending on the brand and gauge of your shotgun that you use while wing-shooting in Argentina.
Many of the lodges will promote "FREE SHELLS" and yes, this is great - but check the rate you pay after you shoot (or try to shoot - usually they are low quality ammo). Many times they will "make-up" the difference with a higher price on the boxes after you shootyour "FREE SHELLS" or you will see some other "fees or taxes".
So just be a good consumer and buyer beware. Now, Los Gauchos does offer a FREE SHELL special for one of our lodges. It is for 20 gauge RD shells which are good and the rate for shells is the same whether we have this offer in place or not.

Can you bring your own ammo into Argentina. NO! Period.
Against the law and you wil be caught - do not try it. Can NOT be done and is not allowed.
Remember you make a deposit for a dove hunting trip and we send you information - so if you do not follow - you will lose out on a great dove hunting trip and can end up at a police station in Argentina.
